Tough Week at the Office.

Last week was tough around the office, which meant Lee had 4 trips to the airport.

1. An Elder was sent home so that was the first run to the airport early in the week.
2. An Elder had to go home for medical reasons so that was another trip to the airport for which Lee had to get up at 2:45 am Friday to get there on time.
3. An Elder was released early, so that meant that as soon as Lee returned from the early morning airport run Friday, he turned around and went right back again. The airport is approximately 30 minutes away through the center of downtown Adelaide, which is no problem unless it is rush hour.
4. Sunday morning, Lee took President and Sister Carter to the airport for a 5 day Mission Pres Conference in New Zealand.

One day we heard from some Elders in Darwin (3000 miles North) who called to tell us they set down their belonging and turned away for a second, and turned back to find their backpacks
(and wallets, scriptures etc) were gone! We were concerned about their credit cards so we called parents (who live in the Sheffield's hometown of Cardston, Alberta, Canada) to give them a heads up so they could cancel the cards. We are still learning how to dial out on the phone, with all of the different country codes and prefixes. Anyway, after a couple of days it was all worked out, in spite of privacy issues and different time zones.

Whew! Glad that week is over!

One week night we had two hungry missionaries show up at dinner time and luckily we had enough leftover sweet and sour meatballs and rice to feed them. It was fun and we enjoyed getting better acquainted.

Saturday was our p-day. We made another souvenir shop stop, went grocery shopping at the Foodland on the Parade, and then we went to the fabric store. You know how I love fabric stores and Lee does too!  NOT!  We had a late lunch at home after putting groceries away and an afternoon snooze was nice. (somewhere in the small print it said senior missionaries could take naps if they wanted to. Sounds good but who has the time?)

I'm anxious to get started on some Christmas sewing projects and I've been approached to do repairs and pant hemming for some of the missionaries in my spare time, which I am glad to do.

Sunday was fast Sunday at church, which we always enjoy. There are 8 missionaries serving in this ward and I loved hearing/seeing two of them bear their testimonies. I am in awe of the young people called to our mission. They are amazing in so many ways and it is a blessing to be associated and interact with them!

The weeks are flying by and no day is the same as another. We are happy in our service and appreciate your love and support.
