Monday the Carter's returned from their trip up North to Darwin and Alice Springs.
Tuesday I had my hair cut after 8 weeks. It was April fools day and Lee didn't play any tricks on anyone, although he wanted to. We had notice that our Fiji visa waiter Elder would arrive Thursday.
Wednesday was regular until we got a call from the Carter's at 2:00 saying they needed our help with a situation an hour away from the office. By the time everything was sorted out, and we arrived at home, it was 7:45pm. Even though we called substitutes, I missed teaching with the Firle sisters at 3:00 and we missed our English class at 6:30. What a day!
Carter's showed up at our door with a TGIF take out order of ribs as a thank you at 9:00 pm. Lee was in heaven!
The new Fiji Elder arrived at 4:55 pm Thursday after being delayed for 1/2 hour. Because Thursday was MLC, (missionary leadership council meeting held for near zone leaders, assistants, sister trainer leaders, and the Carter's on the 1st Thurs of each month) Lee met elder Nakalatia-Seru at the airport and brought him back to the office, where we were all waiting to orient him briefly. We kept it short as he had had a long day of travel. He got his bike and bedding and left with his trainer and zone leaders but we didn't get home until 7:00 pm.
We enjoy seeing missionaries in the office after the MLC meeting when they get supplies, pick up mail, bring bikes, drop off confirmation reports and baptismal clothes, etc. Elder Fepulea'i picked up the two pair of trousers that I hemmed for him, and Elder Empey came by for the jacket that Sis Goodrich mended.
We had a Sister and an Elder assigned to the office Thursday and Friday and it was hard to find things to keep them busy. They were happy to do whatever was needed and saved me lots of time by taking care of several projects.
Friday Lee was to the office by 6:30 am for a 2 1/2 hour board meeting by phone with Utah. I arrived at 8:15 and was able to get the first part of Carter's online visa renewal completed. I also recorded baptisms/confirmations for the week in the computer, which then go to Salt Lake City. Whites were out doing flat inspections until late afternoon but Goodrich's were in the office all day. Both couples are doing great work in their respective spheres. Lee was in and out to the office store several times and to the post office.
We received notice of another infringement Friday. Poor Lee gets to make the call to inform the missionary and it's never fun. We talked to Hunter for his birthday even though it isn't Friday yet for him.
Saturday after we talked to the family via FaceTime, we took a missionary to the airport to go home early to Perth.We picked her up at the Firle Sisters flat at 10:45 and got back from the airport about 1. Since I was awake from 3:19-5:30am I died for naps and felt great when I woke up after a 2 hour snooze.
Lee's birthday is Tuesday next week so we decided to celebrate on the weekend instead. (I know we won't go so far after a long day at work.) He's been wanting to go to a restaurant that Carter's told him about, which we finally did Saturday afternoon. We located the TGIF at the Westfield mall which is about 50-60 minutes away with weekend traffic. Lee ordered ribs and said they were the BEST ribs he's ever had! HAPPY early BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
After setting the clocks back 1 hour before bed Saturday and borrowing an alarm clock from the Whites in case our phones didn't automatically adjust, Lee left at 4:00 am Sunday to take another missionary leaving early to the airport traveling home to San Diego. I was awake again from 2:04-5:30am arrrgghhhhh! Thankfully it was Sunday so we could both have an afternoon rest.
After naps, I cooked ground beef, made enchiladas for dinner, and put the rest of the cooked meat in sandwich bags for the freezer. I also made Lee's favorite lemon jello bday cake to share at the office Monday when we'll have the most office traffic.
We fasted Sunday for Riley's improved good health and for the Team of Doctors who are determining her future treatment and presenting options to her parents Monday. Fast and testimony meeting was lovely as always. Next week general conference will be broadcast in our church building.
We were down to two regulars at our Sunday edition English class, Christina and Danny. The topic discussed this time was sharing personal information, with emphasis on numbers such as how tall we are or how much we weigh, our address, phone number, and age. They are very interesting, eager to learn, and invited us to their home for lunch after the Easter holiday.
Sunday night we attended the monthly missionary fireside for new members and investigators and it was across the street in the Firle Building. The theme was The Restoration with testimonies from two converts, a talk by President Carter on the Book Of Mormon, and a selection of Book Of Mormon scriptures on Christ by Stake President Korte. Beautiful meeting with just a few people to start, but it ended up a good turnout. The fireside was a great conclusion to a difficult week.
