I do believe SPRING HAS REALLY SPRUNG! I mean it this time!
The days are beautiful and the nights not so cold. Finally! Trees are
blossoming as are flowers and we smell wonderful fragrances along our
walk route.
Lee had an early morning phone call Monday from the downtown Elders saying their locked bikes were stolen the night before while at a members home for tea. Both are new bikes as the Elders came into the mission the end of June and August. Grrrr! Lee is researching tracking devices and u locks as recommended by the SA police.
We
received a nice long email from our new home ward Bishop in Utah. Since
we left in July 2013, our ward split and a couple of months later, it
was made into part of a new stake.
Tuesday, Sister Hannan and I served lunch for Modbury and Elizabeth zones and got back to the office at 3, tired. Lee and Elder White went out lawn mowing at various missionary flats in the afternoon.
Lee had a small health concern recently and went to the doctor last Thursday. She sent him for an ultrasound Monday and the technician acted a little weird so we were both apprehensive. Thankfully, all is well after the return appointment for results Tuesday morning and we are grateful.
Wednesday morning we spoke with my dad, Freddie, for his birthday. Wednesday night English class was on STUDYING THE SCRIPTURES and USING THE INTERNET and Danny, Christina, and Ali attended. It was warm and balmy so we walked over to the church in the daylight and back home after class.
Thursday, Lee was running around to the bike store, Downtown elders flat, Woodville flat, and the post office. Sister Carter came in the office and said, "I've been thinking....." which is code for she has another project for Christmas. She wants us to make bookmarks for the sisters' Christmas luncheon and it has crocheted edges so we are trying to figure it out from a picture only. I emailed Patty immediately for help to get me started and figured it out myself later in the week.
Friday the Carters left for Kangaroo Island with the Raesides, who drove and saved Lee from making 5:15 am trip to the airport. They will be back Monday after touring and attending church in the small branch. We had tacos and diced green chilis on tacos for dinner.
Saturday we went shoe shopping in the morning and to the Semaphore flat to get something from Elders Duffus and Barnett. It was another beautiful day and fun to be out. After an afternoon rest, we left for Tea Tree Mall and at the round about before the mall, a small gray car didn't stay in their lane and hit us in the left front fender. We both pulled out of the roundabout and to the left shoulder and Lee called the police. When I heard an approaching siren ( we were directly across the street from a hospital) I turned to Lee and asked if that siren was for us? He assured me that he'd told them there were no injuries so no, it definitely couldn't be for us. Guess what? It WAS for us, as was the huge red fire truck, and police car that pulled up behind the gong show!

Two front parts of the van were dragging on the ground so the fireman went to work with duct tape so we could at least drive home and not have to tow. They actually came to the crash site to make sure there were no gas or oil leaks from either car. The ambulance made sure there were no injuries, and the policeman made an accident report. We had already exchanged names, license, and insurance information. The poor shook-up driver that hit us was a young woman from India and her husband and baby were in the car also. They actually live a few blocks from us in Firle and we were both going to the same mall. Lee had his first ever breathalyzer test as did the other driver since it is required at all traffic accidents.
Once the paper work was completed the police said we could leave, so we drove 50 feet into the parking lot of the mall. We looked at shoes but didn't buy anything and grabbed dinner at the food court, and drove home. Lee had Mexican and I had chicken korma at the Curry Zone.
The accident was a bit stressful but we are grateful no one was hurt and thankful it wasn't worse. The timing stinks to have the van in the repair shop since transfers are next week and the Carter's three daughters will be in town for 10 days.
Sunday was very breezy, but warm. Church sacrament meeting talks were about Celestial Marriage. English class was on GETTING A CAR LOAN and STUDYING THE SCRIPTURES. We had 7 students and 2 missionaries attend so we were squished in our little classroom.
That afternoon after a nap, I made banana bread with very ripe bananas that needed to be used and fell off the sugar wagon to sample a slice. I took the rest to the office Monday for hard working missionaries on their pday.
